Staggering is a core combat mechanic in 33 Immortals that temporarily interrupts enemies and bosses, rendering them vulnerable to further attacks. It is most often triggered by powerful heavy attacks, specific Relics, or coordinated co-op abilities. When timed correctly, staggering opens key windows for team-wide burst damage and control.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Enemies and bosses build up a hidden Stagger Meter when struck by specific attacks — most commonly charge attacks and heavy co-op powers. Once this meter fills, the target enters a staggered state, which:

  • Interrupts their current action
  • Disables movement and attacks for a short duration
  • Increases damage taken (especially when paired with Status Effects)

How to Apply Stagger[edit | edit source]

Staggering is most effectively applied through:

  • Sword of Justice – Heavy Slashes and Gavel Bash
  • Daggers of Greed – Stun Slashes
  • Staff of Sloth – Charge Attacks with stun buildup
  • Co-op ability combos that layer charge, stun, or AoE
  • Relics that enhance stun or weaken bosses when they stagger

Combat Effects[edit | edit source]

Staggered enemies:

  • Are briefly stunned and stop all movement
  • Take increased damage from specific Relics or co-op traits
  • Are unable to cast abilities or launch counterattacks
  • May drop extra resources or be exposed to critical damage

Boss Staggering[edit | edit source]

Bosses have a much larger stagger threshold but can still be staggered:

  • Requires multiple players coordinating heavy or charged attacks
  • Often occurs after breaking one health bar
  • Opens a key damage phase where high Critical Damage and burst abilities are most effective

Some Boss Relics directly benefit from stagger effects, such as:

  • Coffer of the Devoted – Increases team damage by 50% when a boss is stunned or exposed
  • Polished Monstrance – Grants co-op energy when bosses lose a health bar (commonly when staggered)

Stagger Strategy[edit | edit source]

  • Time stuns before a boss ability to interrupt casting
  • Layer crowd control with co-op skills for fast meter build
  • Follow up staggered targets with high-damage combo attacks
  • Save burst relics or ultimates for the stagger window

Synergy With[edit | edit source]

Staggering works especially well with:

  • Status Effects – Slow or weaken the target before the stagger
  • Empathy – Improve co-op chain effects that contribute to staggering
  • Weapon Roles – Melee and Tank classes build stagger faster

Summary[edit | edit source]

Staggering is a vital technique in *33 Immortals*, enabling control, interruption, and massive damage opportunities. Whether disrupting enemy waves or creating the perfect window to slay a divine boss, mastering stagger mechanics is essential for any coordinated rebellion.
